Sunday Group
Runs |

During the cross
country season, we organize Sunday long runs to
help athletes build their mileage and advance their
aerobic endurance. From week to week, we pick
different meeting locations around State College.
Those runs vary in distance and difficulty, but there
are always options for the new and younger athletes to
adjust the volume and pace.
Time: Sunday, 3:00 -- 4:15 pm Location: TBA to team members (check email) These are some courses we use:
Training: Most of these runs are done at an easy to moderate effort. Here we are mainly focusing on "how long" (not "how fast") we are running. Walking breaks and stops are of course allowed as needed. Some runs will however include some workout components. We usually do some stretches before and will occasionally add some strides and core after the run. Who should attend: Any NTF cross country athletes hoping for significant progress in athletic performance over the season are encouraged to regularly add one longer run to their weekly training schedule. This is a great opportunity to do this as part of the group. Middle School cross country squads training for invitationals and any of our athletes training for National Championship are strongly encouraged to attend the long runs. Supervision: One or a few club coaches are usually there to guide the group. However, we rely on parent chaperones / volunteers to help runners navigate the course. We may have a big group with a wide pace range, and we spread out a lot. Parent runners or bikers are invited! If you have an athlete who is 10 or younger, and you consider letting them join the group run, please check with the coach if your presence will be required. Any athletes 8 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or an older sibling.
